I have never driven a 4wd in the bush before do I need experience
to rent one of your rigs ?
A number of our recommended treks are
perfectly suitable for someone that has never driven a 4wd offroad
before. We will provide a detailed handover of the vehicle and how to
handle and set up your camping trailers. We also include a comprehensive
safety guide and hand book with each vehicle. The vehicles with trailers
are in excess of 2.5 tonne gross so it is very different to driving a
normal car and you do need to accommodate your driving style
accordingly. For any of the treks that involve sand driving, river
crossings or other advanced off road situations we expect that you
already have suitable experience in managing a 4wd vehicle, recovery
techniques and to safely navigate a variety of off road terrain.
If you would like some professional guidance we
also offer a one day off road driving course that will be conducted in
your chosen rig and adapted to your existing skill level.
Are the camping trailers easy to set up ?
This is the beauty of the camping trailer is it is so easy to manoeuvre and set up. We will provide a run through of the process upon vehicle pick up and each rig includes a detailed instruction book covering every possible question. Leave yourself some extra time for the first effort
preferably while it is still daylight while to acquaint yourself with the system. Each subsequent time you will have your camp set up from 15-30 mins.
What if I break down ?
Our vehicles have been designed and specifically prepared to perform
off road and the probability of mechanical breakdown is unlikely. There are
some basic 4wd repairs and recovery that we would expect you to be
able to carry out on your own including; changing tyres, ensuring the
radiator and cooling systems are clear of debris, removing the vehicle
from a bog. If you are heading into the remote outback we also supply
extra wheels, fanbelts, radiator hoses and a tool kit. In the most
remote areas it is highly recommended that you do not travel alone, it
is mandatory to carry plenty of spare water and absolutely never leave
your vehicle.
