4WD Hire vs Buying

There are significant economic savings, environmental advantages and an opportunity to save your precious holiday time by renting over buying a 4wd. As fuel becomes more precious and more expensive the savings to be realized by driving more economic vehicles are greater. Hiring a 4WD has significant benefits for the environment as well . We also realise that you do not want to compromise the sort of vehicle you may be used to when off road, we fit our hire vehicles out with the keen 4wd enthusiast in mind who wants to know they can tackle the toughest tracks.
Another important note is any 4wd that is well suited to taking on extended off road treks, typically is not that well suited to city driving. Especially if you are towing a camper trailer or boat and you have children the fact of the matter is to be safe and in control you do need a large vehicle, with a powerful engine. The extra weight helps to tow more safely and the extra power of a larger engine will get you through the toughest tracks. The added weight and size of the vehicle however means greater fuel consumption, off road tyres wear quicker on bitumen and with extra height difficulty in finding a car park where you do not hit the ceiling. 4wds are by there nature also expensive to maintain, tyres are expensive, servicing is expensive and when fitted out with dual batteries, winches and so forth also all need looking after. There fore any vehicle that is used for both off road and on road use generally ends up becoming a compromise in one or both areas.

If you are a typical family for example that gets away a few times a year then there is a lot to be saved by hiring over owning. For this example lets compare owning a 4wd that is used as both your family daily driver as well as your holidays to renting a dedicated 4wd for your holidays and maintaining a more economical family vehicle for city and day to day driving. For this example I have used the data produced by the RACQ on average vehicle running costs and compared a Subaru Forester to a Toyota Landcruiser.
The annual savings right up front are $8665.99, this can then be put forward to either hiring a 4wd when you need one or other holiday options, mmm Fiji. If lets say for example you have a two week trip in the year and then hire a 4WD for another week on odd weekends the savings still come out to $5,935.99.

Environmental Advantages
Outback Australia is nothing less than spectacular and we all have a responsibility to keeping it that way.
Not only is this a means to help save yourself some money but also help the environment. 4WD's use more fuel, more oil, more batteries, more tyres and emit more omissions. All these products are produced from non renewable resources and have some nasty waste products. By driving a more economical car for your day to day activities and only renting when you need it you are helping the environment considerably.
We also only use recycled and tank water for maintaining and washing our vehicles and wherever possible use oils and lubricants produced form renewable resources. Our batteries and other waste products are recycled and reused.

1. You can rent from us the type of vehicle you need for the trip you are planning, whether it is a family sedan for a big trip, or a troop carrier to get the boys to Moreton for fishing. You do not need to clean and maintain the vehicle after you trip we do all this for you, and you do not need to stress about the salt water on your own car.
2. If you are hiring a complete camping pack we prepare and set the vehicle up for you with fridges, recovery gear, jacks, shovels and all the equipment you need. All you need to supply is food and clothes. This alone can help save your precious holiday time.
3.Our vehicles are dedicated 4wds, they do not have electric windows, electric mirrors and other fancy items that can go wrong in the bush. They are designed to get you safely, reliably and comfortably from a to b. They are fitted with winches, snorkels, bull bars and dual battery systems and have been used extensively up in Cape York, in the deserts and on our beaches. Many modern 4wds that are also city vehicles have way to many electrical systems that can really let you down when stuck in a creek.
4. If you are wishing to travel a particular part of our country but live in another state there is both fuel and time to be saved by flying into your destination and picking up a fully equipped vehicle ready to go. Melbourne to Cairns for example is at least a four day drive each way.
